“
Absolutely brilliant day. Neil’s is a star and doesn’t stop being enthused by his surroundings. His stories are magical and really interesting. The day is activity packed but the free time is great. Chamonix is much bigger than expected and a great place to visit on its own. Mont Blanc is spectacular

Niels was a fantastic tour guide who made the entire trip a wonderful experience. The coach was very comfortable, very good driving, very good speeches by Niels made the tour group's mood very lively. The whole trip organisation was perfect, very little wait times throughout and it showed excellent planning by the organisers. The views from the top of Mont Blanc were absolutely astounding as was the experience in the ice cave. We loved the cable car rides up and down the mountain. Overall a trip worth the time and money. Very strongly recommended. Thanks to the Velema team especially Niels.

Chamonix Ice Cave Guided Day Tour from Geneva FAQ

The first sentence of every answer is the answer.

Yes, it is the highest-rated Geneva day trip on this site with over 100 reviews. It scores 4.9 from 783 reviews, with 5.0 for the guide and 4.7 for value. The €227 option covers the cable car to 3,842 m, the glacier train and the ice caves in one guided day. The catch is timing: the ice cave is closed 28 Sep–18 Dec 2026. Check open dates on the live calendar.

Only in the €227 per person option. The €104 option includes the coach, the guide and a guided Chamonix village tour at 13:00, but no train or cable car. The €227 option adds the Aiguille du Midi cable car and the Mer de Glace cogwheel train. The difference is €123 per person. Choose your option on the live calendar.

No, the ice cave is closed for maintenance from 28 Sep to 18 Dec 2026, according to the operator's notice. The Aiguille du Midi cable car and the cogwheel train also close from 2 Nov 2026 until mid December. The cable car still runs until 1 Nov 2026. If you travel in the closure window, the full-day coach trip gives a Chamonix day from €84 per person.

The ice cave visit means 180 stairs down and the same 180 back up, as the listing states. You reach the cave by the cogwheel train and a further cable car down to the ice. Comfortable shoes are on the packing list. If stairs are a problem, the €104 option skips the lifts and keeps you in Chamonix with the guide. Pick the option that fits on the live calendar.

The tour finishes at 6:30 pm in Geneva, at the same place it started. The bus leaves Chamonix around 5:00 pm, and the guide gives dinner and sightseeing tips for Geneva on the way back. The whole day lasts 9 hours. Lunch is not included, but you get at least about an hour of free time in Chamonix to eat. Book a date on the live calendar.

The tour has two meeting points in Geneva, and the one you use depends on the option you select. The exact address appears with your booking. Hotel pickup and drop-off are not included, so plan your own way to the meeting point. If you want hotel pickup, the private day trip includes it and is priced per group.

Children aged 3 and older can join; the listing marks the tour as not suitable for children under 3. Families should weigh the 180 stairs to the ice caves and the 3,842 m summit before choosing the €227 option. The €104 option is a gentler day in Chamonix village with the guide. For more family options, see the Mont Blanc tour from Geneva comparison.

Bring a passport or ID card, comfortable shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen and a windbreaker, as the listing asks. The tour crosses from Switzerland into France, and the summit stop is at 3,842 m. Drones are not allowed. Lunch is not included, so bring money for a meal in Chamonix. Reserve your seat on the live calendar.

Book the €227 option once the ice cave (closed to 18 Dec 2026) and the Aiguille du Midi (closed to 19 Dec 2026) reopen for the full ice cave day, or the €104 option for a guided Chamonix village day.
