A Mont Blanc day from Geneva is mostly sitting: about 1 h 25 min on the road each way, then cable cars and a cogwheel train. Nobody on these tours has to hike. What the day asks is two things — being comfortable at altitude, and managing some stairs and standing in queues.

There is no time to acclimatise — you step out into thin, cold air. The operator’s own advice is short: "This excursion is not recommended in case of big cold or heart problems."
If the top is too much, there are lower ways to see the massif. Plan de l’Aiguille, the mid station at 2,317 m, is €43 return, or €36.60 at 65 and over. The Montenvers train stops at 1,913 m with a terrace over the Mer de Glace. And the Ice Cave tour sells a €104 option with no cable car at all — the listing says it suits people who are not fans of heights.

The cabins carry 65 people. At the top a lift to the panoramic terrace and a lift to Step into the Void save most of the climbing, though the operator warns the lifts can be unavailable. Its average visit is 2 to 3 hours including the ride, and at peak times it can take double — a real reason to go early.
The cogwheel train is the easy part: 20 minutes from Chamonix, with access bars fitted for wheelchairs and a large accessible terrace at the top. The ice cave is the hard part. A gondola takes you down towards the glacier, then it is stairs — around 170 steps by the operator’s count, 180 on the Ice Cave tour listing — and the same back up. The operator says step-free access to the cave is not possible.
Both Chamonix lifts count 65 and over as a reduced category, the same fare as children aged 5 to 14. The reduction is on the lift ticket, not on the tour: the GetYourGuide options we checked for the day tours are priced per adult.
